LUCIAN FREUD AWARD: PSYCHOANALYSIS/CULTURE

The "Fundación Proyecto al Sur" announces its fifth edition of the Lucian Freud Award: Psychoanalysis /Culture.
The award is organized with the purpose of selecting texts referred to the intersections and interchanges among the productions of culture, psychoanalysis and the social bond it implies.

Participants:
Due to the characteristics of the Award, all those involved in the crossing area between psychoanalysis and culture, and coming from different practices and fields, are invited to participate. Residents in any of the countries in the Americas and Spain will be able to take part in this second edition. Iinformation can be required at: coordinacion@proyectoalsur.org

Reception:
The texts, written only in Spanish, with a minimum length of 20 and a maximum of 60 pages, must be sent by post to "Fundación Proyecto al Sur" or delivered in person at the Paidós bookstore in the city of Buenos Aires (1). They must be sent to "Premio Lucian Freud/ Fundación Proyecto al Sur" in .doc format (CD or DVD) and three printed copies of each text with a pseudonym, including a sealed envelope containing the personal data of the author. The final closing date for the reception of papers is November 20, 2009.

The Jury
The 2009 selection jury is formed, among others, by Alejandra Birgin, Carlos Chernov, Luis Alberto Quevedo, Eduardo Muller, Adriana Rubistein (Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, Facultad de Psicología), Juan Ritvo (Universidad Nacional de Rosario), Manuel Cruz (Universidad de Barcelona), Alicia Borinsky( Boston University), Julio Ortega ( Brown University) ,Fernando Peirone (Facultad Libre de Rosario) and Randolph Pope (University of Virginia).
The first selection will be carried out by a Committee conformed by an outstanding group of psychoanalysts, critics, and essayists and the resulting list will be available for access at the Fundación Proyecto al Sur website. (www.proyectoalsur.org).

Award
The Lucian Freud Award will consist in the publishing of the selected text and a work by Clorindo Testa chosen from the series "La ciudad, territorio incompleto".
The jury will decide by majority of votes and the judgment shall be unappealable. The Award Coordination and the Presidency of the "Fundación Proyecto al Sur" will resolve any issue not contemplated in the bases.The judgment will be made public through the media in April 2010 and, simultaneously, the members of the jury for the following Award will be announced.
